I want more of these right now. Elements of Momofuku Milk Bar, BAKED, and Smitten Kitchen all made into one gooey, caramely pan of sweet & salty bourbon blondies (recipe here). Paired with a few songs by (musical) supergroups because, y’know, same thing? Made these for my Tumblr Eat Up buddy and a couple close friends in Michigan. Sharing them was NOT EASY.

vneckandacardigan:

So I basically struck Tumblr Eat Up gold. My buddy Laura (eatingthebeats) absolutely killed it with her package. What you’re looking at is blondies, miso sesame cookies, chai instant oatmeal, and a slew of cds.
Why cds? Because, you see, Laura blogs about music and baking, which is essentially my most favorite combination in the entire world.
Thank you so much Laura… and apologies for posting this so late!

Woo wooo, my first Tumblr Eat Up! I made the blondies with chocolate crumbs from the Momofuku Milk Bar book + caramel from Baked Explorations, and the recipe will be on ETB later this week…

New York’s supposed to be gorgeous this weekend — a pitcher of this stuff wouldn’t be a bad idea. Citrus ginger sweet tea, inspired by late-’70s/early-’80s indiepop band The Chefs.

“Look, Mama, no hands” — my version of my mom’s mandel bread recipe (orange sesame), inspired by Mirel Wagner’s song “No Hands.” I think she’d be proud!

My coworker Maris just got back from a trip to Ireland and brought us back these hilarious chocolate bars. Those funny-looking guys are Irish 20-year-old twins John and Edward Grimes, who perform as Jedward, and apparently they’re big enough to have their own chocolate bars. As for the taste, it’s a much less intense version of my favorite Israeli chocolate, which has pop rocks in it.

Sunday breakfast: polenta with parm, sauteed kale with garlic, and eggs. Mmmm.

Portobello “nests” with greens, goat cheese and pear-onion jam, inspired by Shearwater.

My favorite market in New York, New Amsterdam Market at the South Street Seaport, had its first day of the season today! After snacking on a bazillion kinds of bread (today was a special bread event), along with chocolate, cheese, pickles, and all kinds of other goodies, the BF and I settled on a pretty hilarious/delicious lunch of fresh bread from Grandaisy Bakery dipped in Nonna’s Sweet Sauce from Spicy ‘n Sweet. We also had incredible ice cream (Mexican vanilla with Taza chocolate and candied pepitas, and arroz con leche) from La Newyorkina, which I forgot to take a photo of because I was so excited to eat it…

Kate Bush-inspired eggs in clouds (aka more failed egg whites!), cooked with Gabriel & the Hounds. Gabe also recorded an awesome cover of Bush’s “Hounds of Love” at Let ‘Em In Music, which you can download for free over at Brooklyn Based. Photos by Dominick Mastrangelo. (Also, featured on Food52 today!)
